Cybersecurity Operations

Program Overview

The Cybersecurity Operations program consists of three classes and focuses on preparing individuals for industry examinations and a career in the cybersecurity field.

The competencies in all of the following courses are aligned with the California High School Academic Content Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.

Cybersecurity Operations Fundamentals (120 Hours)

Brief Course Description: This competency-based course is designed to prepare the student for the 210-250 SECFND exam. This exam is the first of the two required exams to achieve the CCNA Cyber Ops certification. This course equips students with the basic knowledge, foundational principles, and entry-level skills needed by today's organizations that are challenged with rapidly detecting cybersecurity breaches and effectively responding to security incidents.

Implementing Cybersecurity Operations (90 hours)

Brief Course Description: This competency-based course is designed to prepare the student for the 210-255 SECOPS exam. The Implementing Cisco Cybersecurity Operations (SECOPS) exam (210-255) is a 90-minute, 60-70 question assessment. This is the second of two exams that must be passed to receive an associate-level CCNA Cyber Ops certification. This course equips students with the basic knowledge, foundational principles, and entry-level skills to begin a career within a Security Operations Center (SOC), working with Cybersecurity Analysts at the associate level.

Computer Security+ (120 hours)

Brief Course Description: This competency-based course provides a solid foundation in cybersecurity concepts, practices, functions, and applications. The course maps to the Computing Technology Industry Association's (CompTIA) Security+ examination. Technical instruction includes an introduction and covers basic networking security, threats and vulnerabilities, compliance and operation security principles, basic cryptograph, as well as application, data and host security, identity management. Emphasis is on preparing the student for the CompTIA Security+ SY0-501 Exam.

Separate costs for books, exams, supplies, preparation, certifications and/or licenses provided by outside vendors may be incured.

Once a Certificate of Completion is earned in a course, that course cannot be repeated.
